G'day!
Yes! We are still alive, thanks for your concern. As a matter of fact, there's very little to be concerned about in the Karnivool camp, it's a very exciting time. For a couple of reasons as follows..
The 2nd album is shaping up to be a gem. You may have realised by now that we don't write albums very quickly, but we don't like to do things by halves. We are about to lock the doors of our comfy little studio which sits among the serene surrounds of the industrial hussle and bussle of Osborne Park where we will be entering the 'preproduction' stage. Joining us once again on the start of our excellent adventure is our good friend Forrester Savell. In the next two weeks we will be finishing tracks, tying up loose ends, chopping things up and sticking them together again, applying the lacquer where necessary, or taking to it with blunt objects where necessary. All in all, making the sure everything is exactly how we like it before we begin the real tracking process within the coming weeks. Once again, thanks for your patience and support. In the meantime here's a little video of what we've been up to recently. We will be posting videos and blogging on a regular basis throughout the pre-production and recording period, check back soon.
In other news....Karnivool are amongst the first bunch of bands announced for the 2008 Homebake Festival. The lineup includes Crowded House, You Am I, The Vines, and shitloads more... AEONS TOUR - APRIL 2008 Fidelity Corporation and New World Artists are proud to present the next chapter in Karnivool’s forays into the live arena. Hot off the back of two cold months touring the USA and two hot weeks demolishing crowds at the Big Day Out in Australia, Karnivool’s Aeons tour is set to be a hot autumn ticket.
The Aeons tour will be a carefully sculpted show with a difference. Karnivool will bring their forward thinking take on the standard rock song to the table, while special guest That 1 Guy (the man with the magic pipe from San Fran, USA) shows off a whole new approach to music with his bombastic grooves. Punters are sure to be entertained.
Karnivool’s Steve Judd say’s “We can’t wait to get out there and present something different to the standard rock show to people, should be a lot of fun and hopefully I can convince That 1 Guy to give me a shot on his pipe. By the way, where are my shoes?”
The Aeons Tour heading around the country in April May, tickets on sale at the below outlets from March 13th. Check out the gigs page for details.

After spending 2 months in the US on the Great American Rampage Tour with their new friends and labelmates Ankla, Skindred and Nonpoint, Karnivool are back in Australia. The tour, which was Karnivool's first tour outside of Australia supporting the international release of Themata, included 42 gigs, 15000 miles in an increasingly smelly / broken van and around 740 burgers. Some insights can be seen on the video blogs on the myspace.
To celebrate finally being on home turf the band have announced a couple of homecoming shows in WA before they head off on the national Big Day Out tour. Check gigs page. Tickets from www.heatseeker.com.au and associated outlets.

Last year, Wally De Backer, an independent Australian artist who goes under the name GOTYE released an album called Like Drawing Blood. The members of Karnivool (along with the rest of Australia) completely fell in love with this album. They were shocked to find out that the love flowed both ways and that their Themata album had rekindled Wally's love for heavier music. A tight bond had formed between these seemingly unlikely musical peers, and subsequently Wally approached Karnivool and asked them to submit a song for his 'Mixed Blood' album, a collection of artists hand picked by Wally, doing their interpretations of Gotye songs.
Straight away, the band knew that they'd tackle the opening song on the album 'The Only Way'. The original tune had a mystique and rolling energy that would lend itself perfectly to the Karnivool stylings. The lyrics, the driving bass line, the cut up/off time drums, the ambience and the layered harmonies would all end up translating perfectly into an emotive, high energy Karnivool song and the song was chosen for inclusion on 'Mixed Blood'.
The album features other outstanding covers and remixes from artists such as Faux Pas, Infusion, Fourth Floor Collapse, Joe Hardy and Bass Kleph.
Mixed Blood is due for release on July 15, and is avaiable on Itunes now!

Karnivool's debut album "Themata" was self released in early 2005 (through MGM Distribution) spawning the singles "Roquefort", "Themata" and "Shutterspeed". Now released in 4 major territories worldwide through Bieler Bros Records, Themata celebrates 2 years (that's 104 weeks folks!) in the Australian independent Air Charts. To put things into perspective, the only other releases in the chart to match this is John Butler's "Sunrise Over Sea" and Lior's "Autumn Flow" . Karnivool are very proud and thankful for the support of everyone who has helped the band achieve this feat, and are looking forward to taking their unique brand of alt. heavy rock overseas later in the year.
